What are you doing in the off-season?
When I was in high school, I did year-round softball and basketball.
.
In the off-season of either one of the sports, I remember waking at 5:00 every morning to run 6 miles before school. During academic hours, I did weight lifting for my gym credit and after school, I did more drills and practice.
.
That way, during the season, I knew that would be conditioned for whatever case during the games.
.
I good athlete knows that it’s not what you do on the field that wins the game, but how much time you worked on your craft during off -hours, off-season runs, early morning workouts and lifestyle mindsets that wins championships.
.
Kobe Bryant was a legend in Basketball. But it all started at 4:00AM EVERY Morning doing basic drills and practicing fundamentals. He didn’t win championships by just showing up that day- he won them by pure discipline during the off-season.
.
Everything is at a stand-still now. It’s very easy to get complacent, lazy or unmotivated.
.
.
But this is the right time for conditioning. Condition your heart through prayer. Workout your mind through trust. Flex your faith through the word.
.
2 Timothy 4:2 says, “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”
.
Get back to fundamentals of the faith like quiet times, walks with God, tithing and daily worship.
.
.
How are you conditioning your self during this time? Discipline yourself- set alarms, wake up early- do whatever you have to to be prepared for the next season.
