Weapons of God

The weapons of the war we’re fighting are not of this world but are powered by God and effective at tearing down the strongholds erected against His truth.

We are demolishing arguments and ideas, every high-and-mighty philosophy that pits itself against the knowledge of the one true God. We are taking prisoners of every thought, every emotion, and subduing them into obedience to the Anointed One. —2 Corinthians 10:4-5 VOICE

It has been awhile since we have had the “grands” come visit, so the free weekends have given me lots of time to organize cabinets, clean out closets, and work in the yard.

As I was going through the children’s books last weekend, I noticed a common theme emerge among the newer hardback books in the shelves. So many of the books are about superheroes with special superpowers.

I noticed even the dress up clothes now include superhero masks, capes, swords and shields. It is funny how all five grandchildren ranging from 4 to 9 years of age enjoy playing a superhero that overcomes unseen enemies.

All this made me think about how you and I are equipped with supernatural weapons for our warfare that isn’t against flesh and blood, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world(see Ephesians 6:12). In this life on earth, we will have our share of battles. The good news is we don’t have to fear our enemy, because God has given us all we need in Christ, to overcome and be victorious.

Our superpowers include invincible armor and weapons, so wecan successfully resist the enemy and hold our ground in the evil day of danger. We have a supernatural boundless strength through our union with God (Ephesians 6:10), so we can successfully stand firm, fully prepared, immovable and victorious.

In this battle, we are subjected to unrelenting flaming spears hurled at us from the wicked one targeting our mind, with thoughts of worry, fear, despair and other deceitful lies. The good news is that we have both defensive and offensive armor to use against the enemy.

Our part in the battle is to stand firm and allow the Holy Spirit, who is living within us, to remind us of God’s promises (see John 14:26), so we can use the Word of God as our offensive weapon. This Sword of the Spirit helps us take prisoner every thought, every emotion and subdue them into obedience to Christ (see 2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

The Holy Spirit will also lead us successfully through every battle tactic we face. He will guide and provide us with the intel we need, because He is not only our Helper, He is our Comforter, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener and Standby (see John 14:26 AMPC). The key is learning to cooperate with Him.

God is on our side, so who can be successful against us? (see Romans 8:31) No matter what comes our way, we are more than conquerors, and gain an overwhelming victory through Christ, who died for us and was resurrected (see Romans 8:37).

It is a time for celebration, because the tomb is empty, Jesus is risen, and the victory is won!

Blessings,

Cindy

Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. —1 Corinthians 15:57
