Are you living a "H.E.A.L.T.H.Y" Life?

Strategies to H-E-A-L-T-H-Y Living This month I have focused my studies on what is living an emotionally healthy life look like and in the process I have discovered some strategies to healthy living that I will share in a moment.

There is great value in being emotionally healthy. When you are emotionally healthy you are better
equipped to control your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You are able to cope with life’s challenges.

You are able to keep problems in perspective and bounce back from setbacks. You can feel goodabout yourself and are able to enjoy healthy relationships. If we physically over-tax our bodies by working outside on a hot and humid day we know the value of drinking lots of water to avoid heat stroke.

Your emotional health needs attention just as your physical well-being does. Our focus today is to
look at strategies to living an emotionally healthy life so you can avoid an “emotional” stroke.
H – HOPE

Having hope allows you to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It helps you to not give up when you experience setbacks and challenges along the way. When hope’s dream seems to drag on and on, the delay can be depressing. But when at last yourdream comes true, life’s sweetness will satisfy your soul.—Proverbs 13:12TPT

E – EXERCISE

Self-care is vital in being emotionally healthy. You pay close attention to when you need to refuel your bodies and minds. You are aware of your limits, and getting back in balance. Daily exercise reduces stress and helps you to feel happier. It also helps you lose weight and livelonger. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is valuable in every way, because it promises life both for the present and for the future.—1 Timothy 4:8 GNT

A - ATTITUDE

You will rarely see an emotionally healthy person complaining about their life. Instead, you’ll seesomeone who can accept the current hand they’ve been dealt with positivity. They are problemsolvers. They create opportunities to grow and do so willingly. Choosing to be cheerful by looking on the bright side will bring you more and more joy and fullness. It increases your ability to experience happiness regardless of your circumstances while helping you cope more effectively with stress. A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired.—Proverbs 17:20 MSG

L – LOVING YOURSELF

Seek out positive traits in yourself and your life. Avoid measuring your worth by comparing yourself to those around you. This leads only to stress and frustation. Give yourself credit for the good things you do for others each day. We will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. Wehave far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.—Galatians 5:26 MSG

T - THANKFUL

When you are thankful, you are better able to cope with stress, have more positive emotions, and are better able to reach your goals. You understand by giving thanks you are shifting your thoughts onto the positive rather than the negative. Be thankful in all circumstances.—1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

H - HEART

Throughout the Bible we are taught that there is a direct connection between your heart and yourbehavior. The health of your heart will determine the health of your behavior.Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.—Proverbs 4:24 NLT

Y – YOUR THOUGHTS

Be mindful of what you are thinking about. Choose not to let your mind wander. Don’t allow negative thoughts pass through your mind. Being mindful can help you reduce stress as well as help you stay focus. Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.—Philippians 4:8-9 MSG Being emotionally healthy does not mean you are happy all the time. It does mean you are aware of your emotions. You can deal with them, whether they are positive or negative. Living emotionally healthy helps you to manage stress, anger and negative feelings more effectively. You know the value of prayer and seeking God to help you live an emotionally healthy life. … be intentional, purposeful, and self-controlled so that you can be given to prayer.—1 Peter 4:7 TPT
